Meal Plan
2022 is really just going for it…just jumping into February already! Dang!
I am happy to report that Factor_ meals are still going strong over here! I thought I might provide a little background on this meal plan in case anyone else had ever looked into using it.
I actually came across Factor_ meals at work. One of my fellow pharmacists was also on the keto diet, and recommended it to me one day when we were working together. J and I have been on the keto diet in the past and have had success with it. We decided, this time that we would like some help with our meals and meal planning. We both love to cook, and I love attempting new recipes, but with our schedules, sometimes it just doesn't make sense to be cooking so many different dinners. Plus, on nights that I work till 9pm, dinners are annoying to deal with.
So to prevent us from eating out and from grabbing quick unhealthy things to eat, we decided to try it out. We have gotten about 1 month worth of meals now and our consensus is...👍👍
I love a good old pros and cons list, so here we go!
Yayy List!
Meals take only 2-3 mins to warm up in the microwave
Meals do NOT have a rubber texture and are NOT bland like a lot of pre-made foods
The ingredients actually taste and look fresh
There are keto friendly options, vegetarian options, calorie smart options
Delivery is weekly and if you want to skip weeks you can do that with no problem at all
The packaging is all recyclable
If they are out of an ingredient, they substitute something similar and notify you of the change
Boo List!
a little pricey per meal, so make sure to check your budget
if you decide to warm them up in the oven (instead of microwave), the stupid little plastic on the edges of the meals are annoying to peel off
Some of the options are already repeating a little, so maybe a few more options would be nice
I have kind of a hard time with keto because I don't particularly like meat. So I always feel like it leaves me with so few choices on foods. Lots of eggs and avocados -- which I like, but not for like 3 meals every day. And then I start missing fruits and certain vegetables. So I have jumped off of it again, and not sure if I will start it again in the future. And starting tomorrow, I will be trying a different section of the meals from Factor_. I chose some vegetarian options that are calorie smart, and I am VERY MUCH looking forward to them.
**This isn't an advertisement for Factor_ meals.** I just more often see a lot of information on the meal prep kits, so I thought someone may benefit from hearing that the pre-made meal services are good too! (And also, we used the meal kit service HelloFresh when we lived in Arizona. I still have a lot of those recipes saved!)
Who else here is still sticking to their diet and exercise goals for the year so far?! 🙋♀️
