What’s New?
Hello and good evening! Finishing up a bit late tonight, but better late than never!
We have had a lot going on over the last few weeks! We just had our wedding anniversary, we are getting all set up for the holidays, and we made a quick trip last week with some friends (and had an absolute blast!!)
This year our anniversary was spent driving with some of our closest buds, their 4 month old and pup! We flew to Arizona on a Saturday morning and made our way with them from Arizona to Illinois (arriving by Monday night), for their big move. We have never visited any of the midwestern states, so this was definitely a lot different than our usual road trips up and down the west coast.
Here is a little visual of our trip.
Saturday was Washington to Arizona on a flight...and then driving from Arizona to New Mexico.
Sunday was New Mexico to Texas to Oklahoma to Kansas.
Monday was Kansas to Missouri to Iowa to Illinois.
Wednesday was Illinois to Missouri and then a flight back home to Washington.
And for our extra fun anniversary present, Josh had a brilliant idea to take first class home. We felt quite fancy with our boxed water and all…Oh, and it was pretty cool actually getting leg room and having the ability to sit like a normal human being, instead of doing the good ol' sardine squeeze, next to germy strangers.
Last year our holidays were a bit glum. Not to say that this year is all peaches and cream, but it is a teeny bit better than last year. Just a teeny bit. Good news is that we actually put some effort into decorating for Halloween this year. I have all of our Thanksgiving decorations out and about in the house in plenty of time for the holiday…And we are decorating for Christmas already too. So I would say that is a big step-up for us from last year.
Look! Even the tree is up already! No ornaments on it yet, but they are in the garage eagerly waiting for my next day off so they can hop out of those little boxes and do their Christmas thannnng!
This year for Thanksgiving, we are going to be at my parent's house, helping cook and hanging out for the day. And we are looking forward to a few visitors that are going to be joining this year! I am attempting to make some gluten-free scones in the next day or so too, so we will see how that turns out…
I hope that life for everyone is getting somewhat back to normal. Maybe you can at least celebrate with a few more family members this year. I can definitely say that by the amount of vaccines I have given in the last year, I would expect to see more family get togethers! And safer ones, at that!
Lastly, Happy Thanksgiving! No matter how rough life can be on us, I am grateful to be here this year with my family (amongst being thankful for many other things, too)!
And now back to Animal Crossing, as I have just learned a new DIY recipe for a fruit salad.
